- The former Manchester City forward is yet to feature in any of Nigeria's games in the competition

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has disclosed why Leicester City star Kelechi Iheancho has yet to make his lineup at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The former Manchester City forward was one of the players to arrive late in the Super Eagles camp before the tournament started.
Nigeria played three matches in the group phase, and Iheanacho wasn't featured in any of the games.
In an exclusive interview with Sports Brief, Peseiro explained why the Nigerian international has yet to start any of the Super Eagles games in the competition thus far.
"If something happened to Kelechi [Iheanacho], I would've told him to stay at home or stay with Leicester, but you know, in Leicester City, he had an injury and started recovery in our camp," he said.
"He arrived in the night before our first game and started to work with us one day after; that's the reason.
"When a player comes to camp, the coaches and medical staff check if the player is fit and ready."
The Super Eagles' next opponent in the competition would be a Round of 16 clash with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday, January 30.
Nigeria's last game against the five-time African champions in the competition ended in a 3-2 win for the Super Eagles in 2019.
