Liverpool fans are still reeling following the news that Jürgen Klopp will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

The German tactician broke the news earlier today (January 26) that he would be stepping down as manager of the Anfield-based side at the end of the season despite being contracted until 2026.

With the Reds boss announcing his departure, Sports Brief looks at where Klopp ranks on the Merseyside club's list of most successful managers.

Where Klopp ranks among Liverpool's managers

Gerrard Houllier - 6 trophies

The Frenchman spent six years at the English giants, winning six trophies during that time. The peak of his success came in 2001, when he led the side to a historic five trophies.

Liverpool won the League Cup, FA Cup, Charity Shield, UEFA Cup, and UEFA Super Cup, bouncing back from the disappointments of the previous season, where they only finished fourth. He eventually parted ways with the club in 2004, per EuroSport.

Jürgen Klopp - 7 trophies

While Klopp's haul at Liverpool may not seem as impressive given that they only won seven trophies, his true greatness can't be measured on numbers alone.

The German brought belief back to Merseyside and led the club to the league title, a trophy that eluded them for 30 years.

Klopp gave Reds fans a new lease on life with his brand of football and helped mould new club icons. With Liverpool leading the Premier League, and still in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, and UEFA Europa League, The Normal One could end his spell as manager on a really high note.

Sir Kenny Dalglish - 9 trophies

You must be doing a good job when you have a stand named after you. A former player and manager, Dalglish is a cult hero at Liverpool.

He spent two terms as Liverpool boss and racked up nine trophies during that time. As noted by Bleacher Report, he led the side to their first-ever double when he won the League Championship and FA Cup in his first stint as manager in 1985.

Bill Shankly - 11 trophies

Shankly is arguably one of the greatest managers in the club's history in terms of his impact. As reported by Liverpool’s website, he took over the team while still in the second division.

He turned around their fortunes and led them to become champions of England within five years. Shankly led the side to a first FA Cup and returned them to Europe before his time as manager eventually ended.

Shankly spent 15 years as manager of the side and is the reason why Liverpool are the juggernauts they are today.

Bob Paisley - 20 trophies

When it comes to the number of trophies won at Liverpool, no one comes close to Paisley. The Englishman led Liverpool to six league titles between 1975 and 1983 and won three European championships during that same period, Transfermarkt noted.

Paisley originally served as Shankly's assistant manager and had big shoes to fill when the Scotsman eventually retired. Paisley not only replicated Shankly's success but also took it to a new level as he brought Liverpool numerous European successes.

Klopp's trophy haul at Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp will go down as one of Liverpool FC's most popular managers thanks to his impressive nine-year spell at the club.

The German manager joined the club in 2015 from Borussia Dortmund and brought back the glory days at the English giants.

Having announced his departure from Anfield, Sports Brief looks at the trophies Klopp achieved as Liverpool's head coach.
