The Egypt FA had initially stated Salah would only miss two games after being forced off during the game against Ghana.
But in a separate press conference thousands of miles away in England, Klopp revealed he had spoken with Salah, and the injury was worse than initially feared.
Klopp also revealed after Liverpool’s win over Bournemouth last Sunday that Salah would have to travel back to England for further treatment to speed up his recovery.

Klopp has since issued an apology in another press conference on Thursday, January 25, as his side prepares to take on Norwich City.
"If I said something too early, then I'm sorry. It wasn't intentionally the wrong thing. I didn't know the situation in that moment,” he said, per The Mirror.
The Liverpool boss also assured Egypt fans that Salah would return to the AFCON tournament should he be fit enough to play and his nation is still competing.
Egypt face DR Congo in the last 16 of the tournament on Sunday, January 27, hoping to advance to the quarter-finals.
