FootballLuis Suarez Cheekily ‘Insulted’ Lionel Messi During His Inter Miami Welcoming
- Luis Suarez took a swipe at Lionel Messi when Inter Miami players welcomed him
- Suarez was far from happy after Messi slapped him as part of the welcoming ceremony
- The two are yet to combine upfront for the Herons after playing two games so far
New footage has shown that Luis Suarez was far from impressed with his friend Lionel Messi during his welcoming ceremony as a new Inter Miami player.
Suarez ditched Brazilian side Gremio to move to Major League Soccer, where he reunited with Messi and other former Barcelona stars, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
As is the norm in football, he was welcomed traditionally where the players lined up, forming a hallway with the Uruguayan striker passing through quickly to avoid slaps.
Messi was on the tail end of the line and made sure to land a slap of his own on Suarez's back. The 37-year-old was not impressed with Messi's slap and turned back to confront him in what makes for hilarious viewing.
The new Inter Miami forward told his captain,
"Since when have you been throwing punches in the hallways, idiot?" as translated by Albiceleste Talk.
The two are good friends and Messi was unlikely to take offence to the statement. They have since played together again, albeit with little success. Tata Martino's side drew against El Salvador before going 1-0 down to FC Dallas in pre-season friendlies.
Is Messi vs Ronaldo still happening?
The David Beckham-owned side are supposed to play Saudi clubs, Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, in their next round of friendlies. A possible meeting between Messi and his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, hangs in the balance after the Portuguese icon hurt his groin, forcing Al-Nassr to withdraw from the China tour, as reported by the Guardian.
Apologizing to fans, the 38-year-old Ronaldo confirmed his struggle with a fitness issue. Expressing his disappointment, he stated, "I have played for 22 years, and I am a player who doesn't have too many injuries. So I'm really sad because Al-Nassr and myself have come to China to enjoy the tour. We have not canceled the game; we want to push for the game and be back here... Unfortunately, I have some problem, but this is part of football and my life."

FootballSergio Aguero's warning to MLS clubs
Sports Brief has also reported that Sergio Aguero has warned MLS clubs after Suarez linked up with Messi again in Florida.
The Manchester City legend opined that the two forwards will wreak havoc in the United States, with Busquets and Alba also complimenting their efforts.
