- Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets joined the club last year
- Former Argentine striker Sergio Aguero is confident they will bond well
Sergio Aguero has sent a warning to Major League Soccer clubs after Luis Suarez moved to Inter Miami after leaving Brazilian club Gremio despite having a year left on his contract.
The Uruguayan forward reunited with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba in a move that will send chills down their opponent’s spines.
Suarez has partnered with Messi in attack in a 4-4-2 formation in their first two preseason games, but they are yet to score a goal, even though they showed glimpses of what they could offer against El Salvador and FC Dallas.
They have a real test against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr next month. Still, the game is in jeopardy after the Saudi club cancelled their China tour following the Portuguese superstar’s injury, the Guardian reported.
Aguero warns Inter Miami rivals
Retired striker Aguero, a friend of Lionel Messi, has warned MLS clubs over the threat posed by the reunion of the former Barcelona quartet.
“I'm very happy to see Luis and Leo play together again. They make a great partnership, and I don't see a reason not to ask for an encore. It's tough news for the rivals though, even more so with the presence of Busquets and Jordi Alba,” he told Stake via Sportskeeda.
The former Manchester City striker added that their presence will make other teams sit up, and it's positive for the league.
“Other teams of the MLS have reinforced themselves in smart ways though. That's good for everyone. The North American league has become more and more competitive, and many players, seeing Leo there, are eager to join too,” he added.
