The Round of 16 fixtures of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have been confirmed.
Ivory Coast was among the teams that sneaked into the next round in the new expanded format of the tournament.
Sky Sports reports that the Elephants were on the verge of being sent packing in the group stages after a dismal run of results that saw them manage just three points to finish third in Group A behind Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria.
However, the host nation has sailed through as one of the best third-placed teams from the group stage rankings.
Following the conclusion of the group stage fixtures on Wednesday, January 24, the last 16 fixtures of the continental showpiece have been confirmed.
AFCON 2023 round of 16 fixtures
Ivory Coast, who have won the competition twice, are scheduled to face holders Senegal in the knockouts.
The Lions of Teranga are the only team who won all their group-stage matches, with their last outing ending in a 2-0 win over Guinea.
Angola, who finished at the top of Group D, is scheduled to face Namibia, while the Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn against Cameroon.
As confirmed by CAF, Equatorial Guinea is scheduled to play Guinea as Egypt take on DR Congo.
In other fixtures, Cape Verde has been paired with Mauritania, while Morocco will take on South Africa.
Mali will play fellow West Africans Burkina Faso in the other fixture.
