FootballSadio Mane Plays Peace Maker Role as Senegal Teammate Clashes With Naby Keita at AFCON
- Sadio Mane played a key role as Senegal defeated Guinea
- The defending champions won to finish top of their group
- Mane also had a moment with ex-teammate, Naby Keita
Al-Nassr forward, Sadio Mane had to play a role in stopping his Senegal teammate, Ismail Jakobs and former Liverpool midfielder, Naby Keita from fighting.
Teranga Lions wing-back, Jacobs and Guinea's captain, Keita clashed near the corner flag during their AFCON clash, leading to the referee cautioning both players.
The moment cast an unfavourable light on what was otherwise an exciting game between the two West African rivals at the continental competition in Cote d'Ivoire.
Mane, who was a teammate of Keita at Liverpool, took a leading role by speaking to the Guinean as he urged players from both sides to calm down.
During the mixed zone after the match in Yamoussoukro, he explained he felt compelled to stop things from escalating, as reported by Wiw Sport.
Both teams have progressed to the Round of 16 of the competition, with Guinea placed third following their 2-0 defeat against the African champions.
In an ill-tempered game at the Konan Banny stadium, Abdoulaye Seck gave the Teranga Lions the lead with a towering header from a Kreppin Diatta cross.
Iliman Ndiaye finished off a lovely assist from Mane as the champions finished top of Group C.
Senegal will find out their opponent for the knockout stage at the end of the first round of matches, per Sky Sports.
