Legendary Jay Jay Okocha has admitted that the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 cracker between Nigeria and Cameroon will be a tough 'nut to crack'.
The Super Eagles are through to the knockout phase of the continental showpiece and will now face their familiar foes for a place in the last eight.
Nigeria finished second in Group A with seven points, behind Equatorial Guinea, who topped the standings with the same number of points but a better goal difference.
Cameroon had to come from behind in a highly-entertaining Group C fixture before their gasp 3-2 win over the Gambia to secure second-round qualification to eliminate Algeria.
Okocha, who netted a freekick in Nigeria's 2-1 win over Cameroon at the finals in 2004, stated that playing against the Indomitable Lions is always very difficult.
In a phone chat with Sports Brief, the former Paris Saint-Germain star said:
"It's for them to try and get the win to progress to the next stage no matter how. I want to say they should note that it is always difficult against Cameroon. "
The mercurial midfielder also cautioned the team never to lose focus, adding that the competition is now in the business end. He added:
"We all know that in the business end of the tournament. I just want to tell them to stay focused."
