Mauricio Pochettino is a happy man after guiding Chelsea to the Carabao Cup final in his first season following a 6-2 aggregate victory over Middlesbrough.
The Blues overturned a disappointing 1-0 loss away in the first leg and thrashed the EFL Championship side 6-1 at Stamford Bridge with one of their best performances this season.
They will face the winner of the second semi-final between Fulham and Liverpool later tonight. The Reds hold a 2-1 advantage over the London club from the first leg.
Pochettino sends message to Chelsea fans
The f loss put a sour taste in the fans' mouths, and they called for the manager to be sacked following the embarrassing performance, but after reaching the finals, he had a message for the fans via his Instagram story.
“One more step we pass. Keep the belief,” he wrote.
The fans were not the only ones who got words from the boss; he was displeased with his players for conceding a late goal and not keeping a clean sheet.
“I was really upset because we need to learn from that. We need to play seriously until the end. Sometimes it looks like you didn't finish the game, and you lost a bit of focus,” he said via Mirror UK.
“We are disappointed to concede the goal, but we need to use every single second to improve. It didn't kill my happiness, but I was a little bit disappointed with the finish to the game.”
