A Super Eagles goalkeeper has reacted after Equatorial Guinea thrashed host nation Ivory Coast at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday evening.
The Elephants needed a win against the Nzalang Nacional after losing 1-0 against Nigeria in their second group game.
Former Birmingham and Middlesbrough star Emilio Nsue continued his goalscoring form as he scored a brace against the host nation.
Pablo Ganet and Jannick Buyla were also on the scoresheet as the Nzalang Nacional booked a place in the next round.
During an exclusive interview with Sports Brief, Super Eagles goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo shared his thoughts about Ivory Coast thrashing against the National Thunder.
"For me, in a game of football, things like this happen; that's why even before I came, I was having a conversation with one of my colleagues that this Nations Cup is going to be tough, as there's no underdog in Africa," he said.
The Enyimba goalkeeper also confirmed that he was not surprised by the result of the game.
"It's not a surprise to me that [Ivory Coast lost to Equatorial Guinea] because I know anything can happen in football," he added.
The host nation will have to wait for other teams to finish their group games and see if they can finish as one of the best losers.
