Pablo Ganet and Jannick Buyla were also on the scoresheet as the Nzalang Nacional booked a place in the next round.

During an exclusive interview with Sports Brief, Super Eagles goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo shared his thoughts about Ivory Coast thrashing against the National Thunder.

"For me, in a game of football, things like this happen; that's why even before I came, I was having a conversation with one of my colleagues that this Nations Cup is going to be tough, as there's no underdog in Africa," he said.

The Enyimba goalkeeper also confirmed that he was not surprised by the result of the game.

"It's not a surprise to me that [Ivory Coast lost to Equatorial Guinea] because I know anything can happen in football," he added.

The host nation will have to wait for other teams to finish their group games and see if they can finish as one of the best losers.

Super Eagles star defends Victor Osimhen

Sports Brief also reported that Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili has defended Victor Osimhen over the criticim he faced since the beginning of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The Napoli striker scored Nigeria's first goal in the competition against Equatorial Guinea and won the penalty that led to the only goal when the Super Eagles faced Ivory Coast.

In a recent interview, the Chippa United star expressed his support for the CAF Africa Footballer of the Year and compared him to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
