FootballAFCON 2023: Asisat Oshoala Makes Mockery of Ivory Coast After Humiliating Loss to Equtorial Guinea
- Ivory Coast suffered their worst defeat at the AFCON on Monday
- The Elephants suffered a humbling 4-0 loss to Equatorial Guinea
- Nigerian star Asisat Oshoala couldn't help but laugh at them
Asisat Oshoala has joined the bandwagon on social media, trolling Ivory Coast on the back of their shocking defeat against Equatorial Guinea.
The 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations hosts were poised to rewrite their narrow loss to Nigeria against the Nzalang Nacional. But what ensued after 90 minutes will be a moment they will want to forget quickly.
Equatorial Guinea put four goals past the Elephants in a shocking turn of events. The result was so embarrassing in nature that after the second and third goals, scores of Ivorian fans made their way out of the Stade Alassane Ouattara.
To paint how bad the result affected the thousands at the stadium and the millions watching at home, a photo of legendary striker Didier Drogba looking crestfallen has gone viral.
The defeat puts the two-time African champions on the brink of elimination, and they will need a lot of favours from other countries before possibly qualifying as one of the best third-placed teams.
As it stands now, they have become a subject for trolls on social media, with reigning Women's African Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, making mockery of them.
The Barcelona Femeni striker cracked a light-hearted joke by suggesting that the president of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara, could possibly call for an abrupt end of the tournament, which is a little over a week old.
She wrote in the local Nigerian pidgin English: "What if their president say him no wan see anybody for their country tomorrow morning unless them restart the tournament from beginning?"
