Crystal Palace could be forced to wield the axe on veteran manager, Roy Hodgson, after the Eagles were torn apart 5-0 by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The club are reportedly considering options to replace the English boss, including former Nottingham Forest manager, Steve Cooper, who lost his job last year.

1. Roy Hodgson

Hodgson was 76 years and 164 days old when he helplessly watched his team get beat 5-0 by Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, a manager his 47-year coaching career is older than. Per Mirror UK, Palace CEO, Steve Parish, wants him to see out the rest of the season, but one win in 12 games could force his hands.

2. Sir Bobby Robson

Sir Bobby Robson was 71 years and 192 days old when Newcastle United sacked him after the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa. It was only the second game of the 2004/05 season. He never managed another club till he passed on in 2009.

3. Sir Alex Ferguson

Fergie, as he’s simply referred to, won 13 Premier League titles during his 27 years at Manchester United, the last of which came in his final season. He wrapped the season up with a 5-5 draw against West Bromwich Albion at 71 years and 139 days old.

4. Neil Warnock

The former Cardiff City boss was 70 years and 162 days old when he scored a surprise victory over Manchester United on the final day of the 2018/19 season. He retired shortly after but came out to manage the club briefly in the Championship.

5. Claudio Ranieri

The last septuagenarian to manage a Premier League team. He was 70 years and 93 days old on the day of his final game in charge of West Brom against Norwich. He won the 2015/16 English top-flight title in charge of Leicester City.

Sports Brief reported on former Premier League stars linked with a return to the English league after Jordan Henderson quit Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ettifaq, in six months.

Former Liverpool striker, Roberto Firmino, is also reportedly considering a return to the English league from Saudi Arabia, though it is likely this will happen in the summer.
