Fans of the Malian national football team warmed hearts after they picked up trash after their game against Tunisia at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The two Group E heavyweights met for a decisive clash at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly stadium in Korhogo on January 20, with the game ending in a one-all draw.

Mali needed maximum points to ensure progression to the round of 16 with a game to spare, while Tunisia desperately needed to bounce back following their opening-day loss to Namibia.

The Carthage Eagles got off to a worst possible start after Lassine Sinayoko struck first for Mali with their first shot on target. The French-based striker it the upright before the ball ricocheted over the line to give the West Africans the lead.

However, 10 minutes later, Tunisia restored parity after Hamza Rafia completed an excellent team move to get Jalel Kadri's side up and running at AFCON.

After the game, Mali fans stuck around and cleaned after them. Here is the video of that occasion:

Why Japan fans clean stadiums

The noble gesture echoed the memories of Japanese fans who are known worldwide for their post-match behaviour, as previously reported by Sports Brief.

In Russia 2018, despite a stinging defeat to Belgium in the round of 16, the fans still collected the trash in the stands before leaving the stadium.

The Samurai Blue thought they had done enough to qualify for the World Cup quarterfinals, only for Belgium to stage a comeback and turn around the game from two goals down.

Mali next play Namibia as Tunisia face South Africa. All the teams in the group can still make it out of the group depending on their last group-stage game results.

Salah to return to Liverpool

Sports Brief has also reported that Mohamed Salah will return to England to begin his rehabilitation after picking up a muscle strain.

The Egypt captain was withdrawn in the first half of their game against Ghana on January 18, with scans revealing he will miss the next two games.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that should the Pharaohs make it to the semifinals, Salah will be allowed to return to Ivory Coast.
