South Africa’s sports stars are bringing joy back to fans around the country.

For a long time, only the Springboks were capable of putting smiles on faces as they won back-to-back World Cup titles, but that changed this past weekend.

Dricus du Plessis and Bafana Bafana are the reason why many South Africans woke up with a smile on their faces.

Netizens now have reason to smile after the performances of both Bafana Bafana and Dricus du Plessis.

As noted by SuperSport.Com, MMA fighter, du Plessis went to war with Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 297 and came out as the winner.

The South African beat the American via split decision to claim the UFC Middleweight title during his first title challenge.

With the country buoyed by du Plessis’ success, all eyes were on Bafana as they took on Namibia in the Africa Cup of Nations. Needing a win to keep their hopes of qualification alive for the round of 16 alive, Hugo Broos’ men ran riot as they picked up a big 4-0 win.

With South African spirits at a new high, supporters took to social media to praise both Stillknocks and Bafana for their performances.

Wild scenes in Pretoria as DDP wins

There were crazy scenes in Pretoria as du Plessis captured UFC gold for the very first time in his career, Sports Brief also reported.

The South African MMA fighter beat Sean Strickland via split decision in the main event of UFC 297 in Canada to claim the title belt.

While there were numerous watch parties around Mzansi to cheer him home, the loudest reaction came from his home crowd.
