Democratic Republic of Congo captain, Chancel Mbemba has given his version of what led to the heated exchange he had with Morocco coach, Walid Regragui.
The Olympique Marseille centre-back furiously reacted to the coach at the end of the Group F clash on Sunday, leading to players on both sides clashing.
It is unclear what Regragui said to Mbemba to spark that reaction, but according to the ex-Newcastle United player, the coach's words were 'unprintable'.
Speaking at the post-match presser, the DR Congo captain stated:
"I respect the coach, who is a great man. The television cut the videos, but I have them. I don't need to throw them around. I keep my silence, it's better, that's how I am."
Emphasising the aspect of respect in the sport, Mbemba continued:
"I don't need to shoot anyone but God's justice is there. When I play football, I play normally; I'm not a great player. This word that he said, it is the coach himself who will say it. He himself will speak."
The defender also suffered racist abuse on social media following his post after the match.
Meanwhile, in a pulsating encounter, Pars Saint-Germain defender, Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring with a fine volley from Hakim Ziyech's corner.
However, the Leopards - who missed a penalty before half-time - levelled through Katompa Mvumpa with 14 minutes remaining.
Morocco will next face Zambia while DR Congo engages Tanzania in Group F, as reported by the BBC.
