The Brazilian was once again in the headlines after he scored Madrid’s equaliser in their La Liga fixture against Almeria.

While the side, who were bottom of the table, took a 2-0 lead into the half-time break, Madrid levelled up matters in the second, but it was not without controversy.

Vinicius scored the side’s second goal but appeared to use his arm to do so.

The goal was originally ruled out for a handball but then given after the referee viewed the VAR footage.

Replays of the goal appeared to show the Brazilian guiding the ball into the back of the net with the upper part of his arm, just below the shoulder.

Despite even the commentator’s beliefs that it would remain a handball, the referee decided to award the goal.

Madrid win from 2 goals down

The goal spurred Madrid on as they went in chase of a winner. That winner eventually came in the ninth minute of extra time as Dani Carvajal bundled the ball over the line. The win now takes Madrid back to the top of the La Liga table. Los Blancos lead Girona by two points, having played the same number of games.

Almeria stun Madrid with 38-second goal

Sports Brief also reported how Almeria's Largie Ramazani scored a goal in the first minute of the game to give his side the perfect start.

The Belgian winger scored a 38-second goal as Almeria raced off to an early lead against the Supercopa de Espana champions.

The strike was the earliest Madrid had conceded a goal since January 1, 2015, when they also conceded a goal within 38 seconds of a game.
