The Pharaohs have picked just two points from their opening fixtures against Ghana and Mozambique, with both matches ending in draws.

Salah's Egypt are set to play Cape Verde, who are topping the pool with six points in their final group stage match set for Monday, January 22.

Salah wants to win the AFCON

Speaking ahead of the Cape Verde encounter, Salah expressed his undying desire to finally lay his hands on the AFCON crown.

“Every player wants to win it and I’ve not hidden my desire to also be a winner. I would love to win it and believe it will still happen for me," Salah was quoted saying.

The striker's declaration came just two days after he suffered an injury scare while in action against Ghana.

According to Goal, the Liverpool ace is expected to miss two AFCON matches due to a muscle injury suffered against the Black Stars.

The two matches include the Cape Verde meeting on Monday night and the last 16 clash against whoever Egypt will meet should they qualify for the knockouts.

Egypt versus Ghana share AFCON spoils
