FootballNiklas Fullkrug Speaks After 'Denying' Jadon Sancho Penalty During Dortmund Clash
- Jadon Sancho and Niklas Fullkrug were involved in a penalty row
- Sancho won a spot-kick against Koln and was keen to take the penalty
- However, Fullkrug declined Sancho's request and took the penalty instead
Niklas Fullkrug has broken his silence after he appeared to deny Jadon Sancho a chance to take a penalty during the Englishman's second full debut for Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho is currently on loan at the Bundesliga club, having rejoined them during the January transfer window after his fallout with Erik ten Hag.
According to The Mirror, Sancho won Dortmund a penalty with nearly an hour gone during their meeting with Koln on Saturday.
The 23-year-old ace went on to demand to take the penalty from striker Niclas Fullkrug, with the Englishman recorded saying: "Give me the ball, give me the ball."
The incident sparked a mini row between Sancho and Fullkrug, with the German star declining the Man United star's demand.
Fullkrug went on to convert the resulting spot-kick to make it 2-0 before Donyell Malen completed his brace in the 61st minute to take the game beyond Koln.
Youssoufa Moukoko scored Dortmund's fourth at stoppage time to inspire the Bundesliga giants to a huge win.
Fullkrug addresses Sancho row
Speaking after the match, Fullkrug disclosed that Sancho indeed wanted to take the penalty.
However, he added that he had to take it since he is up there in the pecking order of penalty takers.
"Of course, [Sancho] wanted to take it," the former Werder Bremen talisman explained, as per German football reporter Matt Ford.
"He wants his first goal and believe me: it will come. But we have a ranking. Even had Emre [Can] and Marco [Reus] been on, I'd have been up there! It wasn't my first pen," he continued.
