Manchester United are poised to name the chief football operations officer from Manchester City as their new CEO, marking a significant development in the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era.
Ratcliffe and INEOS have reached an agreement to acquire a 25% minority stake in United, pending official ratification of the arrangement.
Upon its completion, they will assume control of footballing operations at Old Trafford. Former Team Sky chief Sir Dave Brailsford and ex-PSG general manager Jean-Claude Blanc are poised to secure positions on United's executive board.
The new leadership has not yet disclosed any notable alterations to the management staff, but indications suggest that a surprising shift may be on the horizon.
According to The Athletic, United are poised to designate Omar Berrada from City as their new Chief Executive Officer, who will report directly to key INEOS personnel.
The Spaniard is expected to assume executive leadership responsibilities for both the football and business aspects at Old Trafford and will secure a position on the board of directors. According to the report, INEOS actively pursued Berrada, with the Glazers endorsing the decision to appoint him.
Who is Omar Berrada?
Since 2016, Berrada has served in his capacity within the City Football Group, playing a crucial role in the success of Pep Guardiola's team and collaborating with director of football Txiki Begiristain, Evening Standard reported.
He previously held the position of commercial director at City Football Marketing and had earlier worked at Barcelona until his departure in 2011. City have officially acknowledged Berrada's resignation in a statement to The Athletic, although they have not disclosed details about his next destination.
