FootballCristiano Ronaldo: Ligue 1 Aims Swipe at Al Nassr Star With Messi’s Picture After His Comments
- Cristiano Ronaldo claimed Saudi Pro League is better than French Ligue 1
- The comment was seen as a direct disrespect to archrival Lionel Messi
- The league's social media has been reacting with different pictures
French Ligue 1 X admin certainly knows what he is doing with pictures stylishly aiming a dig at Cristiano Ronaldo after his comments about the league yesterday.
Ronaldo won the Best Player in the Middle East at the Golden Globe Awards, and during his interview after the event, he directly ‘disrespected’ the French league.
The Al-Nassr star claimed the Saudi Pro League, which he ‘influenced’ superstars into, is more competitive than the France League, which is one of the top five leagues in Europe.
Fans on social media did not take the comment lightly, claiming it was aimed at his rival Lionel Messi, who won The Best FIFA Award playing in the league.
Ligue 1 aims swipe at Ronaldo
It was not the first time the former Real Madrid star had aimed a dig at his rival, as he previously said the Saudi league is better than the Major League Soccer, days after Messi joined Inter Miami.
French Ligue 1 on X yesterday responded to Ronaldo’s comment by uploading a picture of poster boy Kylian Mbappe and Ronaldo during Paris Saint-Germain’s 5-4 win over Al-Nassr in the Riyadh Season Cup in January 2023.
The social media admin has not stopped hitting the Portugal international forward. Today, a picture of Messi standing over the ball for a free kick with the banner behind him displaying “GOAT” was shared with no caption.
Fans immediately understood they were responding to the former Manchester United forward with another dig, telling him they had the greatest of all-time play in their league.
Messi and Ronaldo will meet again in the Riyadh Season Cup, with Inter Miami scheduled to play against top Saudi clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr.
