FootballTrent Alexander Arnold: Liverpool Star Skips Hazard, Names Messi His Toughest Opponent
- Trent-Alexander Arnold is arguably the best right back in the world
- He is reputable for his attacking prowess though frail defensively
- He has disclosed his toughest-ever attacker skipping a usual foe
Rivals Fans think they caught Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold changing his mind and speech when naming the toughest opponent he has faced.
Alexander-Arnold is arguably the best right back in the world since breaking into the Reds’ first team from the academy in 2016 and remained a vital part of the squad.
He is highly rated for his attacking acumen but very frail defensively, which makes it easy for wingers to have a good day against him and target his side to attack Liverpool.
Jürgen Klopp has tried playing him in midfield in recent games to utilise his short and long passes and let him have little to no defensive responsibility in the team.
Arnold names toughest opponent
The England international sat with PFA for 66 seconds, just like his club shirt number, to answer questions, and one of those was to name his toughest opponent.
He mentioned eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi as the toughest, but not after muttering “ha, ha”, which fans claimed meant he wanted to say Chelsea legend Eden Hazard.
Arnold and Messi faced off in the UEFA Champions League, and the English team came out victorious, with that “corner taken quickly” by the Reds star.
Hazard was a terror to defenders in the Premier League during his seven-year spell at Chelsea and came out on top in battles against any defender anywhere on the pitch. Liverpool were one of his favourite teams to play against.
The league celebrated his departure when he sealed a dream move, which eventually became a nightmare at Real Madrid. His contract was mutually terminated after four years, and he chose to retire.

Carragher wants Arnold replaced
Sports Brief previously reported on Jamie Carragher advising Liverpool to sign a replacement that can do the defensive work as it suits the style Klopp played.
The former Reds right-back believed that after over 200 games, he is unlikely to improve his defensive abilities, so replacing him and finding him a new role is best for both parties.
