Over the past few years, the former Santos and Barcelona attacker has been on the receiving end of vicious criticism, particularly because of his tendency to regularly sustain an injury.
Cheeky fans also pointed out that Neymar had an odd stat - that he was either always injured or suspended around his sister Rafaella which falls on March 11.
With the thigh injury set to keep him out for a month, it seems Neymar might still be out of action by the time his sister’s big day rolls by.
Amid all the criticism, Neymar took to Instagram to issue a statement on his injury, where he made it clear he was extremely distraught that he would be missing in action for a few weeks, he started.
“The sadness is great, the pain is immense, and the crying is constant,” Once again I will stop for a while to do what I love most in life which is playing football.
"Sometimes I feel bothered by my style of play; dribbling and always end up catching. I don’t know if its me or what I do on the field. It really makes me sad,”.
Neymar went on to address critics who term him ‘weak’ in the game, saying, “It really makes me sad to hear from a player ,coach or commentator ‘he’s got to catch it really’ ‘cry baby’ ‘spoiled’. It honestly makes me sad and I don’t know how long I’ll hold it. I Just want to be happy playing football,”
Barcelona play PSG in the second leg on March 10 and the French giants will hope their main man will be fit enough for that clash.
For now, Pochettino will have to cope without the services of both Neymar and Di Maria, who also has a thigh problem.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Paris Saint Germain superstar Neymar has been ruled out of his side's Champions League trip to Barcelona next week.
The 29-year-old Brazilian limped off the pitch in the 64th minute of their French Cup triumph over Caen after suffering a thigh injury.
