In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Peseiro is seen with the NFF official as they uniformly perform a dance celebration.

Peseiro has been under pressure following Nigeria's inconsistent performances in recent times, which included two draws in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Portuguese gaffer has been charged with leading the West African powerhouse to their fourth Africa Cup of Nations title.

The three-time champions will next face Guinea Bissau in the final game of Group A on Monday.

The last time the Super Eagles were champions of Africa was in 2013 in South Africa, as reported by BBC.

Troost-Ekong scores winner for Nigeria

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Greece-based defender William Troost-Ekong scored from the spot as Nigeria defeated Cote d'Ivoire in Group A's second game.

From the first blast of referee Mustapha Ghorbal’s whistle to the conclusive final whistle, the riveting encounter kept fans on the edge of their seats throughout the match.

The game came to life when star forward Victor Osimhen missed a crucial opportunity in the eighth minute, setting the stage for an end-to-end battle for a significant portion of the 90 minutes.

Omeruo opens up on half-time talk

Sports Brief also reported that veteran defender Kenneth Omeruo has disclosed the inspiring half-time talk from coach Jose Peseiro in the Cote d'Ivoire win.

The crucial game, which was action-packed, would feature a flurry of missed chances and little to separate both teams heading into half-time.

However, the second half would feature a rejuvenated Nigerian side whose heightened intensity paid dividends when Ivory Coast defender Ousmane Diomande, slightly late in his challenge, clipped forward Victor Osimhen's leg while attempting a clearance.
