According to Complete Sports, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has now advised his teammates to tread with caution and not underrate Guinea-Bissau ahead of the crucial encounter.

“We aim for a strong performance against Guinea-Bissau. They will undoubtedly approach the game with determination, and we won’t underestimate any team, considering what they’ve done to qualify.”

Guinea-Bissau have garnered zero points from their first two games at the 2023 AFCON, losing 2-0 to hosts Ivory Coast before another 4-2 loss against Equatorial Guinea on Thursday, January 18.

Why Osimhen was dropped from penalty duties

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen confessed he had to succumb to Jose Peseiro’s wishes after letting Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong take the winning penalty against Ivory Coast, All Nigeria Soccer reports.

The Napoli forward was widely expected to take the spot-kick for Nigeria after he won the penalty but left it for Ekong, who converted coolly to secure a 1-0 win for the Super Eagles.

After the game, Osimhen admitted he had to follow the coach’s instructions, although he is expected to be the designated penalty taker for the Super Eagles in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Osimhen craves Premier League move

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Nigerian attacker, Osimhen, wants to play in the English Premier League at some point in his football career.

The Super Eagles striker is currently on the radar of numerous clubs, with Chelsea and Arsenal reportedly preparing bids for the lanky attacker.

Osimhen made history last season by leading Napoli to their first title in 33 years. He also finished the season as the Serie A's top scorer.
