The Premier League's cosmopolitan influences are a melting pot.
Nigeria and Everton FC cult hero, Ayegbeni Yakubu is translating his repour with fans and colleagues into an online package.
His new podcast, 'Feed the Yak', gets its name from a catchphrase coined about his reliability in front of goal should he be provided adequate service.
One of his earliest guests was former Everton teammate, Bafana Bafana's creative wizard Steven Pienaar.
Aiyegbeni played for Everton between 2007 and 2011 before leaving for Blackburn Rovers. Pienaar joined Everton in 2007 on loan from Borussia Dortmund and spent nine years at the club, barring one unsuccessful season at Tottenham Hotspur.
Pienaar's exposure to Nigerian films and culture originates from Amsterdam and his time with Ajax. Here, the South African would also be taught pidgin English by his Nigerian teammates.
Sensing it would be good to integrate with his teammates, Pienaar invested in the media of the time. He told Yakubu and his co-host Michael Adekoloye on Feed the Yak!:
"I decided to buy a lot of DVDs, you know the CDs? So I watched Sam Loko and them plenty times. Sam Loko was my favourite."
Pienaar made 214 Premier League appearances for three clubs, scoring 22 times. He also has 26 UEFA Champions League appearances, with two goals to his name, as per TransferMarkt.
Everton was Pienaar's career high point, a club he gelled with. Speaking on Pienaar's return from his time at Spurs, David Moyes said, as published by The Independent:
Takehiro Tomiyasu's salary, contract dating, net worth, age, stats, and more
Football"Sometimes you find that a player suits a club and vice versa. It all just fits, and when they move on they cannot recapture that."
