Jose Mourinho is in line for a huge payout following Roma's decision to sack him.
The Serie A giants sent the Portuguese packing on Tuesday, January 16.
In a statement by the club, Roma announced that Mourinho parted with the Stadio Olimpico-based outfit by mutual consent.
"AS Roma can confirm that José Mourinho and his coaching staff will leave the club with immediate effect," the statement said in part.
Mourinho's sacking came amid Roma's struggles across competitions, with their most recent outing ending in a 3-1 defeat at AC Milan.
The defeat leaves the Giallorossi sitting ninth in the Serie A standings with 29 points after 20 games.
How much Roma will pay Mourinho
According to reports, Mourinho will get the lowest managerial payout of his career after his Roma departure.
The Mirror claims that the legendary Premier League boss will pocket around £3m as compensation from the Italian club.
Mourinho spent a chaotic two-and-a-half years at Stadio Olimpico, having joined them back in 2021 after he was sacked at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 60-year-old led Roma to two European finals, including in 2022, when he helped them win the inaugural Europa Conference League title.
At the time, the Italian side defeated Feyenoord in the final of the European competition.
Clubs Mourinho could join
Following Mourinho's sacking at Roma, it remains to be seen which clubs he could join in the future.
