Harambee Stars' left-back Erick 'Marcelo' Ouma Otieno is gearing up for a highly-anticipated debut with new club Rakow Czestochowa after completing his transfer from Swedish side, AIK.
Kenyan football fans eagerly await Ouma’s performance on the European stage now that the date for the resumption of the Ekstraklasa has been confirmed.
Rakow will return on February 11, 2024, and Ouma's first official competitive match with his new club could be away to Warta Poznan at the Dyskobolia Grodzisk Wielkopolski Stadium.
The Polish champions are fourth on the log, sitting nine points behind leaders Slask Wroclaw after 19 match weeks.
In contrast, their opponents, Warta Poznan, are 15th with 19 points.
Ouma is expected to play in some friendlies whilst the team goes through a training camp in Turkey before the official league match.
The friendlies are scheduled against Slovenian outfit Mura on January 24, 2024, Bulgarian club PFC Ludogorets Razgrad on January 27, 2024, NK Maribor again from Slovenia on February 1, 2024 and Dnipro-1 the next day. The venues, however, are yet to be decided.
Ouma's transfer saw Rakow invest a staggering Ksh150 million to secure his services. Departing from the Swedish top-flight side AIK, Ouma ended rumours about his future by signing a two-year deal with an option to stay longer.

“Erick is fast, aggressive, and always plays with intensity. Thanks to his quality on the ball and his consistent play with both feet, he will be an option for both sides as a shuttle player in our system.”
