  • Sancho rejoined Dortmund on loan after his bitter fallout with Erik ten Hag

Jadon Sancho became the latest Manchester United player to depart the club under an acrimonious circumstance.

The winger made an emotional return to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the season following his bitter fallout with Erik ten Hag.

According to The Mirror, Sancho and ten Hag publicly disagreed last September, with the Dutchman exiling the Englishman from the first team.

However, the former Manchester City ace has gone on to make an instant impact in the Bundesliga after his return.

The 23-year-old came off the bench to record an assist in Dortmund's 3-0 win over Darmstadt.

Depending on how his loan spell pans out at Signal Iduna Park, Sancho could join a long list of players who flourished elsewhere after leaving Old Trafford under a cloud.

Sports Brief takes a look at five players who had even more successful careers after departing United acrimoniously.

5. Carlos Tevez

The former Argentina striker spent two years at Man United on loan from West Ham.

According to Planet Football, Tevez formed one of the deadliest striking partnerships with Wayne Rooney during the period.

However, he rejected a permanent contract at Old Trafford to join United's rivals Manchester City in 2009.

The ex-striker on to score 58 goals for the Etihad outfit, winning three major titles in the process, including the Premier League.

4. Romelu Lukaku

Big Rom, as he is fondly known, joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2017 from Everton.

However, a fallout with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saw him sold to Inter Milan.

The Belgian scored 47 goals in 72 appearances during his first stint with the Italian club.

3. Angel Di Maria

The former Real Madrid winger arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2014 for a then-British transfer record of £60m.

However, he was unable to live up to his price tag, courting unending criticism from fans.

After just a season with United, Di Maria sealed a move to Paris Saint-Germain, where he went on to form a big part of the club's push to establish themselves as a European football powerhouse.

2. David Beckham

The England legend joined Real Madrid from Man United in 2003 in what was a seismic transfer.

The transfer was made following the former winger's bitter fallout with Sir Alex Ferguson.

He won two major titles during his time at the Spanish club, including the La Liga championship in his final season with them.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo

Finally, on this list is Cristiano Ronaldo.

The football icon left Old Trafford under a cloud after a fallout with Erik ten Hag.

So bitter the fallout was that Ronaldo publicly admitted he had no respect for the Dutchman.

His decision to join Al-Nassr in January 2023 was a blessing in disguise for him, as he ended the year as the top scorer in the world with 54 goals for both club and country.

Ronaldo beat the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and Kylian Mbappe to top the charts.

5 players Solskjaer wanted at Man Utd

Sports Brief previously reported on five players Solskjaer wanted at Man Utd, but the hierarchy failed to get them for him during his trophyless three-year stint at the club.

At the top of the list was Man City ace Erling Haaland, with whom Solskjaer was familiar from Norway.

Jude Bellingham, who is lighting it up at Real Madrid, is the other player who was on Ole's wishlist.
