When will Manchester City get their comeuppance?
That’s the question many are asking after Everton and Nottingham Forest found themselves in hot water with the FA.
As noted by Sky Sports, both English Premier League sides have been charged with breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
If found guilty, they could be fined, incur a points deduction or face other sporting sanctions.
For Everton, this is not new territory, as the club were already punished by the FA.
ESPN reported that The Toffees were docked 10 points in 2023 for the same offence.
How many charges do Man City have?
While Everton and Forest are in the news for their one charge, Manchester City could soon face punishment for their 115 charges.
As noted by The Standard, City could go on trial in late 2024.
Fans question how City escape punishment
With the news of Everton and Forest facing punishment, social media has exploded with questions about when City will be dealt with.
While many were genuinely upset over the news, others saw the lighter side of City’s ability to get away with things.
Here's how social media reacted:
“When are they going to take action against Man City?”
“Rules are only for the small clubs. No punishment for Man City.”
“But a certain club is getting away with 115 charges.”
“Man City could win their 6th title in 7 years with those 115 charges hanging over them and no resolution in sight. What is going on at the PL? Why do they seem so consumed with charging and punishing the teams down the lower end of the table before dealing with City's case?”

Other EPL teams that face deductions
While it isn’t a common thing for teams to face points deductions, Everton aren’t the first side to be hit with one.
Sports Brief reported that Middlesbrough were the first side to be hit with a points deductions in 1997.
Boro were charged after they failed to report for a game against Blackburn Rovers in December 1996.
