After dropping two points in Nigeria’s first game in a temperature of over 31 degrees Celsius, Peseiro has now made a U-turn on his previous statement, citing the weather made the game difficult, Complete Sports reports.

“It’s not easy to play under these conditions. We couldn’t press as we should because of the heat. We need to manage our energy.” Peseiro noted after the game against Equatorial Guinea.

The Super Eagles will take on hosts, Ivory Coast, in their next group game, needing to avoid a loss to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage alive.

Moffi has joined the Super Eagles camp

Meanwhile, Nigeria has received a boost ahead of their second Group A game of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against Ivory Coast with the arrival of Terem Moffi, All Nigeria Soccer reports.

The OGC Nice forward should train for the first time with his Super Eagles teammates on Monday and could make the squad for the Super Eagles' next game against Ivory Coast on Thursday, January 18.

Moffi comes in to replace injured forward Umar Sadiq, who picked up an injury two days before the start of the competition.

Peseiro says camp is moody

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the Super Eagles are not pleased with their first AFCON 2023 result, a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea.

Nigeria coach, Jose Peseiro. admitted his players were dissatisfied with the outcome after being labelled as favourites for all three points.

Victor Osimhen rescued a point for the three-time African champions by cancelling out Ivan Salvador's opening goal for the Nzalang Nacional against the run of play.
