FootballKarim Benzema, Roberto Firmino: Chelsea Eye Move for Wantaway Saudi Pro League Stars
- Karim Benzema and Roberto Firmino have reportedly been added to Chelsea's striker wishlist
- The two are said to be unhappy in Saudi Arabia after lasting only six months in the Middle East
- Mauricio Pochettino's side have missed the most number of chances in the Premier League
Chelsea are reportedly weighing up possible loan moves for Karim Benzema or Roberto Firmino this month.
Despite spending an excess of a billion dollars since the Todd Boehly-led Clearlake consortium took over, the Blues have continued to struggle up front with the lack of a proven number nine hurting Mauricio Pochettino's side.
Chelsea's striking options
Christopher Nkunku has hardly found a run in the team after suffering a knee injury in the preseason. He lasted less than 200 minutes on his return before picking up a hip injury.
Nicolas Jackson has already managed to score seven times in the Premier League this season, but his high-profile misses have left fans talking. The Senegalese forward has missed 12 big chances, according to Premier League stats.
The other available forward to Pochettino is Armando Broja, who is working his way back to full rhythm after tearing his cruciate ligaments last season.
Benzema or Firmino to Chelsea?
A report in the Telegraph reveals that the Blues could look at either Benzema or Firmino as short-term options. The two, who ply their trade in the Saudi Pro League, reportedly want out barely a few months after moving to the Middle East.
Benzema hasn't resumed training with his Al-Ittihad side under unclear circumstances, paving the way for a club to tempt him with a possible move back to Europe. Firmino, meanwhile, has only scored three goals since joining Al-Ahli.
