According to Euro Sport, Kevin De Bruyne was the man of the moment, with the Belgian coming off the bench to score and assist.

City's victory in the tie has them sitting second on the Premier League table with 43 points, just two points behind leaders Liverpool.

Aston Villa are placed third with 43 points following their goalless draw with Everton on Sunday but have played one extra game than the top four teams.

Arsenal, who are among the several teams that were not in action this weekend, are sitting fourth on the log with 40 points.

The Gunners are scheduled to play rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday, January 20, in a match they will be desperate to record a positive result after back-to-back Premier League defeats.

Man United, Chelsea climb on the log

Elsewhere, United and Chelsea were among the biggest gainers after the latest round of fixtures.

The Red Devils' 2-2 epic draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford saw them climb to seventh with 32 points.

BBC reports that United surrendered their lead twice in the encounter to settle for a draw with the north Londoners, who currently sit fifth with 40 points, on level with fourth-placed Arsenal.

Chelsea moved to ninth with 31 points after their 1-0 hard fought win over rivals Fulham on Saturday.

Cole Palmer scored the all-important goal from the penalty spot.

Meanwhile, Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United are all in the relegation zone despite another round of fixtures.
