FootballPremier League Star's House Burgled While He Was Watching Newcastle vs Man City
- Newcastle forward Joelinton became the latest victim of burglary
- His house was burgled as he was watching his side take on Manchester City
- The Magpies lost 3-2, despite leading 2-1 with 15 minutes to go
Newcastle midfielder Joelinton’s mansion was on Saturday, January 13, targeted by criminals as he was at St James’ Park to watch his team take on Manchester City.
The 27-year-old did not feature for the Magpies on Saturday but was there to watch the game when he received an alert that his house was being burgled.
He instantly contacted police, who arrived at his mansion in Ponteland, Northumberland to find the burglars gone.
According to The Mirror, Joelinton lives in a leafy suburb known as 'Millionaire's Row', which is known to host a string of wealthy individuals. Newcastle legend Alan Shearer once took residency there.
Reports further claim no one was home when the burglars broke in, and investigations are still ongoing.
Here is a police report from a Northumbria Police spokesperson:
“Shortly before 7.30pm yesterday police received a call from a concerned homeowner who reported that three men were inside their home in Darras Hall. Thankfully the homeowner was not home but had received a security alert on their phone and immediately reported concerns to police.
The worrying trend of house burglaries
Unfortunately, Joelinton is not the first player to be subjected to a burglary in his home.
In December 2023, Manchester City ace Jack Grealish’s family were home when they were met with home invaders in their swanky £5.6million Cheshire property
That same month, West Ham’s Kurt Zouma’s Essex pad was raided as thieves made away with £100,000 in cash.
