Match preview

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations kicked off on Saturday, January 13, with the hosts Ivory Cost taking on Guinea-Bissau, a game they comfortably won 2-0.

The second day is action-packed, with three matches lined up. The early kick-off sees Nigeria facing Equatorial Guinea at the Alassane Ouattara. Ghana and Egypt play later in the day.

The Super Eagles are looking to make a positive start to the tournament as they look to win their fourth AFCON title. Equatorial Guinea are not minnows. They are making their fourth AFCON appearance.

They have reached the quarter-final twice and the semi-final once.

Equatorial Guinea are looking confident. They have been quietly dismantling some of the continent's biggest teams. For instance, they ended Algeria's historic 35-game unbeaten run and went toe to toe to eventual Champions Senegal in the 2021 champions.

The teams are out.

Super Eagles fans are turning up with just over 30 minutes to go until kick-off.
