  • Sammy Pamzo Omollo admits Shabana does not deserve to be in the relegation zone
  • The former Tusker and Kenya Police head coach was appointed on January 10, 2024
  • He recognizes the difficulty of signing good players mid-season but doesn’t rule it out

Newly appointed Shabana FC coach Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo is gearing up for a challenging encounter against struggling side Nzoia this Sunday, January 14, 2024, in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.

Appointed on January 10, 2024, after being without a job since parting ways with Kenya Police in December 2022, Pamzo is determined to guide Shabana out of their current struggles.

His immediate focus is securing maximum points in the upcoming matches while strengthening the team during the current transfer window.

The coach is adamant Shabana does not deserve to languish in the relegation zone. He believes in the team's potential.

"I'm confident this team won't go down. The fans deserve better, and Shabana's fan base is currently larger than Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards combined. People have urged me to ensure Shabana avoids relegation, and I take that responsibility seriously," Pamzo said, as reported by The Star.

He said he had identified immediate issues that needed addressing, primarily psychological and tactical. He noted the team has been struggling to score and is conceding cheap goals due to inexperience.

He recognized the difficulty of acquiring quality players mid-season but noted the club would make recruitments if opportunities arose.

Pamzo steps into the role vacated by Sammy Okoth's dismissal in November 2023. The club expressed confidence in his appointment, citing his extensive experience and successful coaching history with Tusker FC, Posta Rangers and Kenya Police.

"Sammy Omollo brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and a proven track record in the realm of football coaching," the club stated on their Twitter handle.
