According to Sky Sports, the Belgian midfield maestro came off the bench to score one and set up another as the visitors downed Eddie Howe's men 3-2.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring for City in the 26th minute before Alexander Isak drew Newcastle level in the 35th minute.

Anthony Gordon went on to put the hosts ahead two minutes later, with Pep Guardiola's men heading into the break a goal down.

However, the introduction of De Bruyne in the second half changed the course of the match, with the Belgium international scoring the equaliser shortly after.

He later set up Oscar Bobb for the winner at stoppage time as City stormed to a thrilling win.

Haaland shares his reaction

Haaland, who was catching action at St. James Park, took to Instagram to share his reaction to City's epic comeback win.

SPORTbible reports that the Norwegian ace first shared a photo of De Bruyne with a crown emoji on his head before posting another of himself passionately celebrating the win.

Meanwhile, City's win has them sitting second in the standings with 43 points, just two points behind leaders Liverpool.

Guardiola's men will be looking to build on the momentum when they play Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday, January 26, before taking on Burnley in the EPL at the end of the month.

Newcastle defender interrupts City's celebrations

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Newcastle United defender Dan Burn caused a stir on Saturday after angrily confronting Manchester City players during their goal celebration.

Silva found the back of the net with a backheel from Kyle Walker's cross to prompt a wild celebration from the City camp.

However, the goal was marred with controversy, with Newcastle adamant Anthony Gordon was fouled in the build-up.

With the referee and VAR failing to intervene, Burn confronted the celebrating Man City stars to make clear his feelings about the goal.
