  • Ademola Lookman is preparing for AFCON 2023
  • The Atalanta winger is expected to star for Nigeria
  • Nigeria will face Equatorial Guinea in their opener

Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman and his Super Eagles teammates are enjoying their time at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations even before their first game on Monday.

The 26-year-old and the Nigeria national team arrived in Cote d'Ivoire on Wednesday as preparations began ahead of their opening game against Equatorial Guinea.

The three-time African champions are eyeing a fourth success in Ivory Coast despite losing some of their key players to injury.

A lot of pressure will be on Lookman and Victor Osimhen, two of Serie A's best forwards, if Nigeria is to excel at AFCON 2023.

Meanwhile, before their first game, the players had a good time together at their hotel with the Atalanta attacker performing Asake's hit record Lonely at the Top.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the players sang along with the winger as he delivered his version of the song.

Nigeria last won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013 after beating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final in South Africa, as reported by Eye Witness News.

Lookman discloses AFCION 2023 target

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman has shared his target ahead of the start of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

A host of nations and elite players are set and eager to make a statement for their respective countries at the Mundial in Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are not left out as they are heavily tipped to leave a mark and, for others, go all the way to clinch the title in Ivory Coast.

Juventus shows interest in Lookman

Sports Brief also reported that Italian giants Juventus are interested in Ademola Lookman ahead of the winter transfer window.

From forwards heralding the big stages like Napoli’s Victor Osimhen to Bayern Leverkusen’s 'boy wonder' Victor Boniface, a flurry of Nigerian forwards have continued to dominate the spotlight in some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

However, while some have indeed gone under the radar, a few others are indeed not going unnoticed, and one who has undeniably grabbed attention is Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.
