Manchester United set to incur millions in losses from Sancho’s potential move to Borussia Dortmund
FootballJadon Sancho: Ex Boss Ralf Rangnick Defends Man Utd Winger After Returning to Dortmund
- Jadon Sancho has joined Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United
- The winger has not played since September due to disciplinary issues at Old Trafford
- Former boss Ralf Rangnick has come in defence of the England international
In the past four months, Jadon Sancho has earned himself a reputation as an indisciplined player, but one of his former coaches at Manchester United thinks otherwise.
Sancho was left out of United’s first team since the 3-1 loss to Arsenal in September, and the events that followed meant he never played another game till he left on loan.
Manager Erik ten Hag called out the player's training ethics, which he hit back at his coach, claiming the allegations were untrue and accusing the Dutch of favouritism.
It was internally decided that he should be kept away from the senior squad until he apologises, but he never did and was loaned out to his former club, Borussia Dortmund.
Rangnick defends Jadon Sancho
German tactician and football director Ralf Rangnick was in charge of United for six months after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November 2021.
Speaking to Sky Germany, Rangnick claimed he never had any issue managing the forward and indirectly hinted ten Hag could be the problem.
“In the six months I had him, there wasn’t a single discipline problem. On the contrary, he is a calm and pleasant guy,” he said.
Sancho was not the only player to have disciplinary issues with ten Hag. Cristiano Ronaldo was sent out of the club after issues with the former Ajax manager.
During an explosive interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner claimed he has no respect for the manager.
Per The Guardian, United paid £73 million to sign the 23-year-old in 2021 but will only recoup £3.4mil in loan fee while also covering part of his salary in Germany.
