FootballVictor Osimhen: Napoli Fans Travel to Ivory Coast to Show Love to Super Eagles Striker
- Victor Osimhen is with the national team in Ivory Coast for AFCON 2023
- The Nigerian striker is expected to lead the country to a fourth title
- Some Napoli fans have travelled down to show love to their striker
Victor Osimhen is loved in Naples, and Neapolitans don't shy away from showing that love to the Nigerian forward at any opportunity they have to do so.
Osimhen led Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years last season, and the last the club won was inspired by the late Diego Armando in the 1989/90 season.
The Nigerian scored 26 goals and provided four assists to help the team under former boss Luciano Spalletti ascend the pinnacle of Italian football for the first time in decades.
Per Forbes, the team also made history by helping the club reach the first UEFA Champions League quarter-final, the farthest they had gone in history before AC Milan eliminated them.
Napoli fans show love to Osimhen
As seen in a video shared on X by the Official Super Eagles account, three Napoli fans travelled all the way to Abidjan, the capital city of Ivory Coast, to show their support for the striker.
The 24-year-old was delighted by the gesture and was seen smiling while exchanging pleasantries with the fans. The quartet took pictures, after which he resumed training.
Osimhen had a tempting offer from Saudi Arabia, which almost made him consider a departure in the summer, but after a conversation with the club, he stayed and extended his contract till 2026.
Despite just renewing his contract, he could be set for an exit in the summer, with Premier League clubs Chelsea and Arsenal registering their interest in the forward.
