According to iDiski Times, the Brazilians have made an offer to the 32-year-old who last featured for South Africa in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The former Nottingham Forest striker terminated his contract following a mutual agreement. The termination came after he was found to be driving under the influence.

If signed, Veldwijk will challenge Peter Shalulile and Lucas Ribeiro Costa for a starting position up top.

The report adds that no agreement has been reached yet. The towering striker has bagged over 150 goals in his club career, per Transfermarkt.

Sundowns to sign Argentine

The reigning PSL champions have reportedly agreed to a deal to sign midfielder, Matias Esquivel from Club Atlético Lanús in a deal worth $2.5 million (R46.7mil).

The player is set to join the club during the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, as Sports Brief earlier wrote after iDiski Times first reported the story.

The midfielder has been a key player for Lanus. He played 39 matches in all competitions this past season and helped his side finish fourth in the Liga Professional.

Sundowns star discusses failed European move

Sports Brief earlier reported on Mamelodi Sundowns star Rivaldo Coetzee speaking about his failed move to Celtic in 2017.

Coetzee was close to completing his transfer from Ajax Cape Town in 2017. The defender was 20 years old then.

The defender broke through Ajax Cape Town as a teenager and was touted as an exciting prospect. However, a failed medical saw the move fall through.

“It’s still tough to talk about it even to this day. When you have such an opportunity to go to such a big club, for it to fall through at the last minute, I thought about quitting [playing football] after that.”
