Senegal president, Macky Sall has some jokes, and he made one to the newly wedded Sadio Mane before the team departed for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Mane married his wife, Aisha Tamba, on January 7 and has been a topic of discussion, particularly about his partner's age, 18, which has got some fans accusing him of grooming.
However, the Al-Nassr forward has no time to focus on noise as he is already with the Teranga Lions in Ivory Coast to defend the AFCON title they won two years ago in Cameroon.
It is a return to the international stage in a major tournament for Mane, who missed the 2022 World Cup due to an injury sustained during his time at Bayern Munich, per FIFA Media.
Senegal president teases Sadio Mane
The team hosted a farewell party at the presidential palace in Dakar, where Sall had some jokes for the newly married man and the star of the team.
"First of all, I would like to warmly congratulate our national Nianthi, Sadio Mane, who has just got married," he said via Sportskeeda.
"I called him up so that we could applaud him and wish him a happy marriage. May God bless your home and your descendants. From now on you have another job apart from scoring goals," he added.
The champions have been drawn in Group C alongside the Gambia, Guinea, and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, a game many on the continent are looking forward to.
