  • Jadon Sancho appears to have aimed a thinly-veiled swipe at Manchester United
  • The 23-year-old returns to Dortmund on loan, two years after leaving the club
  • He has not been involved in any competitive football since August last year

Jadon Sancho seems to have subtly hinted at his dissatisfaction with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag after completing a loan move back to Borussia Dortmund.

The English forward, absent from United's lineup since August 2023, has rejoined Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the season.

Since his high-profile move to Old Trafford in 2021 for £73 million, Sancho's tenure with the Red Devils has been marked by inconsistent performances.

However, matters took a downturn as he fell out with Ten Hag earlier this season, resulting in only three appearances across all competitions this season, according to Transfermarkt.

Before his stint with United, the 23-year-old had an impressive record with Dortmund, scoring 50 goals and providing 64 assists in 137 appearances, per Sky Sports.

This included a standout season before joining the Premier League, contributing 16 goals and 20 assists.

Upon his return to the Bundesliga, Sancho will sport the No. 10 shirt and is expected to play a pivotal role in Dortmund's quest to reclaim the German championship from Bayern Munich following their heartbreaking near miss on the league title last season.

Expressing his thoughts on the transfer, the attacker referred to his return to the Black and Yellows as "coming home," emphasising his strong connection with the club and its people.

“When I walked into the dressing room today, it felt like coming home. I've never lost contact with the people in charge,” he said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Despite not featuring in any competitive matches for the past five months, Sancho is eager to contribute as he aims to support Dortmund, who are set to return to the pitch on January 13 in a Bundesliga match against Darmstadt.

“I can’t wait to see my teammates again, play football with a smile on my face, assist and score goals and help BVB”.
