- The reigning African Best will hope to help his country with its 4th AFCON title
- Osimhen was videoed vibing to Nigerian artiste WizKid’s latest single IDK
Reigning African Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen is in the mood as Nigeria touch down in Ivory Coast ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen will lead the country’s attack in his second outing at the tournament and the whole nation expects their best player to carry them to glory.
He was Napoli’s best player and Serie A golden boot winner last year, but this season has started poorly for the Italian champions who are ninth on the table.
Per ESPN, the Napoli striker was the highest goal scorer during the qualifying series with 10 goals, twice as the next player and almost half of the Super Eagles’ 22 scored in the group phase.
Osimhen jams to Wizkid’s song
Nigeria’s Afrobeats is one of the world’s most popular genre of music at the moment and Lagos-born Wizkid is one of the country’s biggest music exports.
As seen in a video shared on social media by CAF Online, Osimhen was vibing to Wizkid’s latest single IDK, featuring another Nigerian act, Zlatan Ibile.
The song has a motivational undertone, something the three-time African champions need in Ivory Coast to fly the nation’s flag high and hopefully win their first title since 2013.
Osimhen in the past days has been embroiled in a social media jive with Mamuka Jugeli, the agent of his club teammate, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who commented rudely on his future.
His agent, Roberto Calenda also released an official statement, cautioning the unbridled remarks by the agent of his client’s teammate.
