South Africa national team coach Hugo Broos gave the latest update about Mothobi Mvala's injury ahead of their first game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The Bafana Bafana will face the Eagles of Mali in their first game of the competition before facing Namibia and Tunisia.
On Tuesday, before the friendly game against Lesotho, the former Cameroon national team coach claimed he wasn't sure about Mvala's availability for the competition.
The Mamelodi Sundowns defender was reportedly diagnosed with a groin injury, which automatically ruled him out of Bafana Bafana's goalless draw against Lesotho.
Speaking to media after the friendly match, Broos confirmed that the 29-year-old Sundowns defender will travel with the squad to Ivory Coast, according to a report by iDiskiTimes.
"He will travel with us because we have the guarantee of the medical staff that he will be ready," he said.
The South African national team doctor, Dr Tshepo Molobi, added that all the medical assessments had been made on the defender, and he is pass fit to travel with the squad.
"As it is any camp, we will always be faced with something; thus, that is the nature of football and when you're dealing with athletes," he said.
Broos Takes Swipe at PSL
Sports Brief earlier reported that Hugo Broos is not happy with PSL and has taken a swipe at the organisers ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Belgian manager claimed his fears were realised after three players selected to represent South Africa at AFCON picked up knocks and are battling to be fit for the Ivory Coast edition.
According to a report by Kick Off, Broos said that he had pleaded with the PSL to go on a break, but it fell on deaf ears - and now that decision is affecting his team before the competition.
