The 23-year-old is one of the hottest strikers in Europe. He has bagged 16 goals in all competitions so far, attracting interest from some of Europe's clubs.

Speaking in John Obi Mikel's podcast earlier this week, Boniface disclosed that he has supported Arsenal all his life.

"For me, right from a young age I've supported Arsenal all my life.”

The news will be music to Arsenal fans' ears since the Gunners are reportedly in the market for a striker who can help propel them to the Premier League title.

However, that potential transfer will have to wait as the Leverkusen striker is starting his recovery journey after undergoing surgery on his right abductor.

Boniface's injury comes at a terrible time for Xabi Alonso's time and Jose Peseiro's teams. Leverkusen are on top of the Bundesliga and have the momentum, and Nigeria have a chance to win their first AFCON title in over a decade.

Boniface ranked fifth best summer signing

Sports Brief also reported that Victor Boniface has been ranked the fifth-best summer signing of the 2023/24 season so far, following the outstanding performances of the Super Eagles forward for Bayer Leverkusen.

Xabi Alonso’s team is a joy to watch on the attack in the Bundesliga this season, and the 22-year-old Nigerian striker leads the way with 16 goals and eight assists in all competitions.

Boniface joined Leverkusen from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise for a fee reported to be within the range of £17.3 million and has been one of the standout players in Germany.

Osimhen rates Nigeria's AFCON chances

Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen gave his thoughts on Nigeria’s chances of winning the AFCON.

The Napoli star stated it was pivotal for the team to shift focus and seal the highly-coveted AFCON crown.

The 25-year-old is expected to spearhead Nigeria’s charge to the title during the course of the tournament. The Super Eagles are looking for their 4th AFCON title.
