EA SPORTS FC has announced its nominations for Men's Team of the Year, including Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who led Napoli to their first Serie A victory in 33 years.
The 25-year-old forward finished as the Serie A top scorer last season with 26 goals, becoming the first African forward to win the Capocannoniere award ahead of superstars like Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku.
According to All Nigeria Soccer, Osimhen will be competing against football legends like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and other top strikers in the male category.
27 strikers have been nominated in total, with voting for the team award thrown open to the public, and the EA SPORTS FC Team of the Year will be announced on January 19, Daily Express reports.
Osimhen is currently with the Super Eagles as the three-time African champions begin their quest for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11.
Osimhen clashes with Kvaratskhelia’s agent
Meanwhile, Napoli striker Osimhen has lashed out at Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s agent after he took a jibe at the Super Eagles striker’s transfer ambitions, Soccernet reports.
Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, claimed the 24-year-old Nigerian striker would be heading to Saudi Arabia in the summer to play football for more money, unlike his own player.
Osimhen did not hold back in his response to Jugeli, offering Kvaratskhelia’s agent a stern warning and urging him to keep his name out of his mouth in the future.
