A former AFCON winner believes South Africa are headed to the continental showpiece with one of Africa's best goalkeepers.
Ronwen William has been Hugo Broos' chosen number one after testing Darren Keet, Ricardo Goss and Itumeleng Khune in the first years of his tenure.
The man who wears the gloves for Mamelodi Sundowns switched from SuperSport United in July 2022 where he had played over 300 times.
Cameroon's acrobatic ace, Thomas N'Kono watched Williams at Loftus Stadium in the AFL final and was full of praise for the 31-year-old.
The Cameroonian is in South Africa to hold a goalkeeping workshop aimed at giving goalkeepers the skill set that is becoming a prerequisite in the modern game.

BoxingWhen asked if Williams could make the step up to Europe, said it would be dependent on him evolving his game. Soccer Laduma quoted N'Kono saying:
"Football is very different. The characteristics of the goalkeepers are changing a lot. He can play in Europe because he has the potential."
Hugo Broos is sweating on Williams's fitness, as well as several others, as he will not play in South Africa's friendly against Lesotho before leaving for Abidjan.
Others currently sidelined are Mothobi Mvala and Themba Zwane as Broos' options become more limited by the day. Speaking about Williams' condition, SABC Sport relayed Broos' assessment:
"I’m confident that with the medical attention he is getting in camp he will be fit for Tuesday."
South Africa begin their AFCON campaign against Mali on January 16.
