Players of the Democratic Republic of Congo took their creativity to another level after deciding to go the unorthodox way ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Central African nation have been camping in Abu Dhabi as they prepare for the continent's biggest football competition.

Ahead of their trip to Ivory Coast, the players chose to represent their clubs for the team's group photo.

In a video shared on social media, the players, who mostly ply their trades in Europe, were spotted wearing jerseys of different clubs including Olympique Marseille and RC Lens.

Some players wore jerseys of teams on the continent, with the easily spotted ones being that of Simba SC of Tanzania and Egypt's Pyramids FC.

DR Congo will wrap up their pre-AFCON camping with an international friendly against Burkina Faso on Wednesday before leaving for Cote D'Ivoire.

The two-time African champions will be based in San Pedro, where they will play Morocco, South Africa, and Namibia in Group F. DR Congo will open their AFCON campaign with a game against World Cup semi-finalists, Morocco, on January 21, per Sky Sports.

Senegal arrive in Cote D'Ivoire for AFCON

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that African champions, Senegal have arrived in Ivory Coast ahead of the defence of their Africa Cup of Nations title.

Led by new husband and Al-Nassr star, Sadio Mane, the team touched down in Abidjan in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The AFCON holders will immediately travel to Yamoussoukro, where they will be based for their Group C matches.

Tanzania touch down in Ivory Coast

Sports Brief also reported that the Taifa Stars of Tanzania arrived in Ivory Coast on Monday evening ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The continental showpiece is set to begin this Saturday when the hosts take on Guinea Bissau at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.

Tanzania are the sole representative of the East Africa region after they finished second in a group that had Algeria and neighbours, Uganda.
