The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is the biggest football tournament on the continent, with the 2023 edition set to take place in Ivory Coast later this month.
Numerous records have been set and then broken since the inaugural continental tournament in 1957, but some milestones will last at least another edition.
Sports Brief highlights five records that won't be broken at the 34th edition of the football tournament in Ivory Coast.
AFCON records that won't be surpassed in 2024
Young player and youngest goal-scorer
The former Gabonese international has two records which cannot be broken at the 2023 edition in Ivory Coast. N'Zigou is the youngest player ever in the Africa Cup of Nations, according to a report by Premium Times.
At the age of 16 years and 93 days, the former Reims star scored for Gabon in a 3-1 loss to South Africa at the 2000 edition, hosted by Ghana and Nigeria, also becoming the youngest player ever to score in the competition.
Oldest player to feature
The legendary Egyptian goalkeeper is the oldest player to feature in an AFCON game. He was 44 years and 21 days old when he played for the Pharaohs in the final against Cameroon on February 5, 2017, with no player this year near his age.
Most titles won as a coach
Ghanaian manager, Charles Gyamfi and Egyptian manager, Hassan Shehata are the only coaches to have won the competition three times. Their record is safe, considering each of the former winning managers heading to Ivory Coast only have only won title.
Most consecutive titles won as coach
Shehata remains the only coach to have won the competition three consecutive times, and the closest to that record in AFCON 2023 would be if Senegal claimed a second successive title under Aliou Cisse.

FootballMost appearances as a coach
French manager, Claude Le Roy holds the record for most appearances as a coach. He appeared in the competition nine times and led six countries to the tournament, well ahead of other coaches this year.
5 countries with 100+ AFCON goals
Sports Brief also previously reported on the countries with 100-plus AFCON goals, with the continental tournament starting in a week's time in Ivory Coast.
Unsurprisingly, seven-time champions, Egypt - who have featured in the most tournaments and have also played the most games - have the biggest goal tally.
