Mamelodi Sundowns have set a record ahead of other clubs at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The 34th edition of the biggest football competition in Africa is set to kick off in five days, with the host nation facing Guinea-Bissau.

Many football clubs worldwide are represented in the competition, but Sundowns edge all others with a record of providing the most players at the tournament.

According to a report by iDiskiTimes, over 40 clubs will have at least three players in the competition, but the Brazilians come out top with 11 players.

Al Ahly are second alongside fellow Egyptian league side with nine players each.

Super Eagles snubbed as AFCON favourite

Sports Brief previously reported Ivory Coast Football Federation chief, Yacine Diallo has snubbed Nigeria’s Super Eagles while naming his favourite teams to win the AFCON.

The 63-year-old Ivorian, who recently addressed the media to discuss a flurry of topics ahead of the tourney, also discussed his nation's preparation for the major tournament.
